The modern world is a very different place from the Victorian world that hosted Forest Hills Cemetery. As a culture we have turned away from a recognition of the glory of creation that helped us respond to the wonders of the universe. We embrace instead those technological innovations that continue to amaze us with their prowess.

 
At Forest Hills Cemetery, those forgotten connections to nature and eternity have been restored, not only by the surrounding memento mori, but by the landscape as well. The cemetery itself embodies the Victorian consciousness and response to death, reminding us by its’ sacred presence of how the eternal truths are woven into our lives. It makes of death a door rather than an end.

Participants who have been on Lois Ascher’s tours cannot say enough about how enjoyable they are and how much they learn - so sign up now! The tour will be approximately 1.5 hours, it is easy walking, and there are benches for resting.

• Transportation: We will carpool to Forest Hill, leaving Newburyport around 9:45 a.m. and returning between 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. Please let us know if you would like to join the carpool or are planning to drive yourself.
• Lunch: Please bring a brown bag lunch for this trip. There are beautiful places on site for picnicking. Make sure to bring water or a drink.
• Walking:Touring Forest Hills is an easy walk with a few slight inclines. There are places to stop and rest along the way.
• More details will be sent to registrants a few days before the trip.
• Since the number of participants for this trip is limited, please help us out by registering early and letting us know ASAP if you need to cancel your reservation.Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
