Village Talk: Katie Banks Hone on Sustaining the Monarch Butterfly (Noon)
Katie Banks Hone’s lecture, “Sustaining the Monarch, One Yard at a Time,” focuses on the biology and conservation of the monarch butterfly and reveals how to garden for monarchs and pollinators. She will bring an adult monarch and release it into the wild at the end of the program.
Katie is a former senior aquarist and educator at the New England Aquarium who transformed her Ipswich backyard into a haven for wildlife and became known as “The Monarch Gardner.” She now runs a native plant nursery and farm stand and also helps homeowners make their backyards into havens for wildlife.
