Village Talk: Beautiful Montana with Bill Gette (4:00 PM)
About this event
Bill's presentation takes you to a wide variety of habitats, making a brief visit to Benton Lake National Wildlife Refuge before moving on to Choteau. The Choteau area offers two great wildlife viewing venues, the Rocky Mountain Front and Freezeout Lake Wildlife Management Area. The Rocky Mountain Front is noted for its beautiful scenery and Freezeout for its wide variety of breeding birds.
At Glacier National Park, Bill takes you on a photographic tour along the Going-to-the-sun Road to visit Logan Pass (elevation 6,680 feet), a boat ride on Swiftcurrent Lake and Lake Josephine, and a walk at Two Medicine to see a variety of wildlife. His presentation concludes with visits to Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge and the shortgrass prairie at Zortman. Bill shows and discusses wildlife along the way, including American Dipper, Mountain Plover, Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goat, Pronghorn, a variety of characteristic wildflowers, and many species of birds.
Bill Gette, Founding Director of Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center, has led two natural history travel programs to Montana.
