Village Meetup: Special Birding Event at Plum Island (5:00pm)

About this event

Village Meet-Up (5:00pm - Dark): Special Birding Event at Parker River Wildlife Refuge.
In late August, large numbers of Tree Swallows come to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge to feed on insects and berries before continuing on to their winter ranges in the southern United States and Central America. As the sun begins to set over the refuge (Plum Island), Tree Swallows often form large swarms looking like black clouds but consisting of thousands of birds. Bill Gette and Dave Williams will lead us in observing this amazing swallow spectacle as well as Egrets en route to their nighttime roosts. We hope you can join us!  Program sponsored by the Friends of Parker River. Village members are invited to join in.

Meet at the Hellcat Parking Lot at 5:00 and walk out to the observation deck. Bring a snack or picnic if you wish.

Registration by Aug. 25

Note: If you register and later cannot attend, please cancel on the calendar event or call 978 206-1821 to cancel so we can make room for someone else. Thank you.
