Village Talk: Ten Myths About Medicare and Medicaid -- CANCELLED

What are the long-term care myths and realities of Medicare and Medicaid?  Have you ever wondered if it’s true that:

  • Medicare will cover my long-term costs in a nursing home.
  • The Medicaid program is only for the poor.
  • The nursing home will take my home!
  • If I’m married, I only get to keep half of our joint assets.
Then join us for our March Village Talk when Elder Law Attorney Margot Birke will address and dispel these and other ‘myths’!

Margot founded Elder Law Solutions in 2002 to focus on the intricate legal needs of older adults and disabled individuals. She has extensive experience as an advocate, mediator, and volunteer and speaks frequently on the subject of aging and disability in order to empower the members of the community by providing the information needed to make informed choices.

She is a Past President of the Massachusetts chapter of NAELA (National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys); a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association; and has volunteered as a state-certified nursing home ombudsman. She is also a past Chairperson of the Advisory Council of Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley.  She received a B.A. from Fordham College, and her J.D., with academic honors, from Fordham University Law School. She is admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and New York.
