86 countries and all 7 continents! Yes, our well-traveled Village member, Paula Wright, really has done all of that. And at our August Village Talk, Paula will share with us her tips about traveling alone or with a partner, as a retiree, and on a limited budget. She will tell us about educational opportunities abroad or closer to home (yes, as a senior) and show us how to achieve our own travel goals.
Paula will talk about her passion for travel, and what it’s like to travel to destinations where cultures, events, wildlife, and people will awaken your imagination and desire to learn more. She travels often with Road Scholar’s small groups on educational adventures as well as other individual and group travel. Her current favorites are safaris: “You can’t believe what it’s like,” she says, “to be close enough to touch a lion in the wild—or be charged by an elephant!”
Surrounded by hundreds of penguins in Antarctica, riding a camel over desert sands, immersed in nature and wildlife, caught in a category five storm off Cape Horn—these are just a few of Paula’s retirement activities. And as Paula is also an avid photographer, she will illustrate her talk with photos showing some of the exotic locales she has visited.
Village Talks are offered by the Greater Newburyport Village for the enrichment of the community. Village Talks occur every third Wednesday of the month at the Newburyport Senior/Community Center, 331 High St., Newburyport. Talks are free and open to all.
