Dear Villagers,

At the end of summer, we usually start spending more time inside our homes. This year doing so may not be much of a change since we've already been avoiding crowds and the risk of covid. In an attempt to offset the isolation caused by the pandemic, the Village is asking members if they'd enjoy a "porch visit," which we define as a social visit in a backyard, deck, or park among two to four people wearing masks and sitting at least six feet apart. If you'd like to set up such a visit, please email membership@greaternewburyportvillage.org.

The Village also wants to remind you of our Rise and Shine check-in service. If you live alone or perhaps are recuperating from an illness or surgery and feeling vulnerable, a call may lessen your anxiety. If so, please request this service by contacting the Village at 978 206-1821 and a Village volunteer will call daily at an agreed-upon time to check that you are okay and ready to face the day.

Fun Activities to Enjoy at Home

• Enjoy a beautiful version of The Prayer sung by Mat and Savanna Shaw. This father and his fifteen-year-old daughter began singing together while at home during the pandemic. Their duet will amaze you.

•  Before your eyes, Skech creates a piece of art with spray paints, stencils, brushes, and other materials and takes you to the Edge of the World.

• Photos of some of the Coldest Places on Earth are a welcome escape on a hot day. You’ll see ice, snow, and even the Northern lights.

•  The Chatty Gargoyle at Denver International Airport takes visitors by surprise and has lots to say.

•  Watch Undercover Cops on the Carol Burnett Show, with Tim Conway and Harvey Corman playing off each other as they try to catch a serial mugger.
