Living Near Seabrook Station: What You Need to Know

A talk with Natalie Hildt Treat of C-10

Join this informal gathering to learn more about the C-10 Research and Education Foundation, an organization dedicated to the safety of citizens within the 10-mile radius of the Seabrook nuclear plant.

Many people who live near Seabrook Station nuclear power plant don't think about the plant very often, much less what it could mean for their family’s health and safety, or the beautiful region we call home.

The C-10 Research and Education Foundation, Inc. (C-10)
is a Newburyport non-profit whose mission is to protect public health and the environment surrounding the Seabrook Station nuclear power plant.
C-10, which stands for “citizens within the 10-mile radius," operates a field monitoring network to measure airborne radiological emissions in the communities surrounding Seabrook, which they have done under contract with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since 1993.

C-10 also serves as watchdog on safety concerns at Seabrook, most notably a serious irreversible type of concrete degradation that has put the plant's operating license into question.

Please join C-10's executive director, Natalie Hildt Treat, to learn about why and how they monitor radiation, get updates on the group's legal fight for tougher federal oversight of the Seabrook's concrete troubles, and ask questions about what living near Seabrook means to you.

September is national emergency preparedness month. This is a great time to review your own emergency plans, and to think about the particular types of preparation that living near a nuclear plant requires of us. Tips and resources will be provided.

The Village is an apolitical non-profit organization. Village FYI offerings are presented for the education of our members and volunteers.
